Welcome to my journey in search of a lost joke.
My name is Marty and I am a stand-up comedian. Hmmm…it sounds like the opening to a 12-step program. On June 8th I am departing Western New York to drive around the country in a Winnebago seeking out every stand-up comedy open mic I can find. I am looking forward to a lot of stage time as well as meeting comedians and hosts along the way and profiling them and their venues. In addition to stand-up comedy, I will be seeking out ukulele jams, poetry slams, and Buddhist monasteries, temples and centers. I will be chronicling my adventures on this website and hope that you visit often.

The Origin Story
"Diogenes wandered Athens with a lamp looking for an honest man. I'm driving a 2021 Winnebago Travato across America looking for a joke that actually lands. We're basically the same."
This is a road journal. It's also a comedy blog, a travel diary, a philosophical inquiry, and — on bad nights — a grief document. I bought a Winnebago, packed up my apartment, gave away most of my things, packed a video camera and decided to do open mics in every state. I don't know what I'm looking for exactly. But I'll know it when I hear the laugh.
